Why We Are Encouraging Careers in the Online Gaming Industry
After a recent incident with senior students, the school faculty had a meeting to discuss several options for dealing with the issue. As some of you may know, there has been an ongoing issue with online gambling amongst the students. Many parents have been finding it difficult to deal with these problems since the children, and their parents, rely on having mobile phones to keep in contact throughout the day. While it is true that mobile phones allow children and parents a certain amount of security, smartphones open numerous opportunities for bad behaviour. We previously tried banning online gambling and iGaming on school premises, however, it didn’t stop students from taking part and doing so at home or outside school hours. With careers day fast approaching, we took an alternative approach in an attempt to turn something negative into a positive.

The online gaming industry is booming and there are many opportunities for professionals from all sectors to thrive. Although we understand that gambling is one of the last things we want the students to be thinking about, punishing them for playing games on their phones (which is essentially what is happening currently) is not the way to go. Although this may be an unconventional method, we have decided that encouraging the students who express acute interest in online gambling and gaming to consider how they can build a successful career out of it. You can rest assured that we certainly do not mean for the students to become professional gamblers, but rather to learn more about sustainable opportunities within the online gaming industry.
How to Get the Students Interested
A clever idea that was established during our faculty meeting was to encourage students to use the internet to research career opportunities. We tasked them with finding online resources that will help them explore career options within the online gaming industry. iGaming USA is an informative online resource, offering a vast store of articles, guides interviews and analysis created by experts in technology, marketing and many other sectors. This online resource is really aimed at professionals already working in the business, however, we saw the introduction of this site as an opportunity for the students to learn about career options that they likely hadn’t been aware of before.
How to Keep Students Focussed
We ask that all parents, particularly those whose children have been involved in online gaming and gambling, encourage the students to research different career options within the online gaming industry. You will find that there are fantastic opportunities in marketing, consulting, tech and production, commercial management and much more. It is our hope that if the students find jobs and careers that interest them, they will be much more likely to focus on their school work in order to achieve the required grades to be eligible for these careers. For example, if your child comes across a marketing role within the online gaming industry that piques their interest, you should discuss what grades and higher education is required to achieve this goal.
